Speedwell Cavern is an excellent venue for educational visits
We welcome visitors of all ages, from Key Stage 1 through to GNVQ level, and offer tailored educational experiences for each group.
For pre-booked groups*, we offer special rates, making it easier for schools and educational institutions to visit and learn about the history and geology of Speedwell Cavern.
If your group would like to visit both Peak and Speedwell Cavern, we offer a joint ticket, which allows you to experience the unique geological features of both attractions at a discounted rate.

Speedwell Cavern's boats can accommodate up to 21 people and depart every 25 minutes. Each group is down the cavern for approximately one hour. We suggest allowing one hour and 25 minutes for a group of 21, plus 25 minutes for each subsequent group.
Your group is accompanied at all times by a professional guide who will explain the social and industrial heritage of the caverns and lead-mine.
Tours are tailored to meet the requirements and abilities of the various age groups, and we can place particular emphasis on any particular features you may be teaching at the time. Please call to discuss your specific needs. Our group bookings number is 01433 623018.
Some special needs pupils can be accommodated, but please call in advance to discuss your individual requirements.
