Please note that there are 106 steps down into the Cavern, and 106 back up on the way out!
The Cavern is not suitable if you are claustrophobic.
During the current pandemic, Social Distancing measures mean that we have limited availability. Depending on group sizes, we have a minimum of 4 benches per boat that seat 3 people per bench.
A family group of 2 adults and 2 small children (under 8 years) or 1 adult and 3 children (under 8 years) may purchase a Family Ticket for one bench (it will be a squeeze, and if the children are too big you will end up having to sit one on an adult's knee).
Children 4 years old and under are free of charge provided you sit them on an adults knee on the boat (strictly 1 free child per adult). No ticket is required so do not include them in your numbers. The use of back-carriers is not permitted in the Cavern.
When booking please select a single option to suit your group size (from 1 to 6 people), pick a date and a timeslot. From 17th May the Rule of 6 or 2 households will apply so for bookings for 7 or more people please telephone 01433 623018 (10am-4pm) and we will assist with your booking. (Before 17th May email firstname.lastname@example.org )
You will be allocated places on the tour time you select and we ask you to arrive 20 minutes before the allotted start time. If you miss your start time we may not be able to accommodate you on a later tour. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN. If you know you will be late telephone us on 01433 623018 and we will do our best to move you to a later tour subject to availability. Again, REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN.
All customers will be required to wear a face mask or covering for the duration of the visit (approximately 1 hour). (We will have face masks for sale for those customers arriving without bringing their own, priced at £1.50)
We will be operating a "Virtual Queue" and at peak times ticket holders will be greeted by a member of staff on arrival in our main car park at the Cavern. During quieter periods please check-in inside the Gift Shop. Once checked-in you will be asked to wait in or near your car (or waiting area) until it is time for you to proceed to the Cavern Entrance a few minutes before your allotted tour time.

Groups of 7 or more people
Due to the Rule of 6 (or 2 households) we are limiting online bookings to a maximum of 6 people. If you are in a group of 7 or more people please telephone us on 01433 623018 or email to email@example.com and, subject to availability, we will generate sufficient benches for you to book. Please do this as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.
Owing to the nature of the cavern, Speedwell Cavern may not be suitable for all disabled visitors. Please call or email for information before your visit to avoid disappointment.
Pay and display car and coach parking is available with a discount scheme for Cavern visitors.
A range of confectionery and hot and cold drinks are available.
